Founder & Commissioner, VS1 Games
VS1 Games was founded and created by Charly Musonda Jr., who serves as Commissioner of VS1 Games and leads the central VS1 Games Office.
A former professional footballer known for his individual skill and 1v1 ability, Musonda represented clubs including Chelsea FC, Real Betis and Celtic before retiring from professional football at just 28 years old.
His experience inside the professional game became the foundation for VS1 Games.
From Player to Founder
Throughout his career, Musonda experienced football at some of its biggest clubs and competitions, but also saw how closely a player's identity remained tied to the badge they represented.
Away from matchday, there were few stages built specifically to showcase the individual footballer: their personality, story, fashion, playing style and character.
After retiring, Musonda set out to create one.
He founded VS1 Games around a simple idea: build an off-season stage where the individual footballer becomes the main character.
Creating VS1 Games
VS1 Games was designed differently from traditional football.
Rather than asking players to join another team or commit to a season-long competition, Musonda created a network of independently owned, private 1v1 Member Clubs across major U.S. cities.
Players can participate for one day during their off-season at a location that best fits their schedule, subject to invitation and availability.
Each Member Club hosts its own annual VS1 Games edition, bringing professional footballers together in premium locations for cinematic arrivals, fashion, interviews, behind-the-scenes storytelling and short-form 1v1 exhibition competition.
Every edition is centrally staged under one VS1 Games brand, format and production standard.
The Players' Commissioner
As Founder & Commissioner, Musonda oversees the vision, athlete relationships, brand identity, competition format and production standards across the VS1 Games network.
The role is built around protecting the players and the founding purpose of VS1 Games as the network grows.
Through the mission-based VS1 Games Office, the Commissioner works across independently owned Member Clubs to ensure commercial growth, new markets and future expansion never change the principle at the center of the platform:
The individual footballer comes first.
Beyond the Badge
VS1 Games was created to showcase elite footballers beyond the clubs and leagues they represent.
An established international, an emerging star or an exceptional professional playing outside football's largest commercial markets can enter the same VS1 Games environment and be presented with the same production standard.
For Musonda, the opportunity is not simply to create another football competition. It is to build a platform capable of revealing the stories and characters of the players who make the world's game what it is.
